. . . . . . .
When Saturday finally came, Sean took a long hot shower, leaning against the shower wall to nurse his bad leg. Ignoring the sting of the heat on the cuts, he wanted to be as clean as possible for when Mason came home that day. Getting away from Dustin would be a blessing itself, and from there, Mason would be completely unsuspecting of what would happen within the days to come. Even with hope in clear sight, Sean imagined how Mason might react to seeing Seanâs cuts, welts, and bruises. Surely, heâd be pissed, right? Maybe he would yell at Dustin right then and there. Or maybe, heâd punch Dustin in the face, old movie bar-brawl style. Sean hoped Mason would at least get him some pain meds for his leg. His drugs helped a little with the pain, but his knee was as swollen as it had been a few days ago.
The shower opened some of the cuts, and the water at Seanâs feet turned pink. Yet, despite the sting, it felt comforting, relaxing. The steam filled Seanâs nose, and he breathed in deeply, conscious again of the collar around his neck, the true source of his imprisonment. He would be glad to get rid of the collar and be back at his apartment, in his own shower, with his own bath towels, his own shampoo even.
He turned the water off, dried himself, and went into the living room. Dustin was sitting on the couch, reading a book. He looked up and looked Sean over with a smile. âYou excited to see Mason after all, Sean? Was I that bad?â
Sean shook his head quickly. âNo, I just...he punishes me if Iâm not super clean all the time.â
âAh,â Dustin said, closing his book. It was a book of Robert Frost poetry. âSo, what youâre saying is that with me youâve just been lazy, huh?â
As Dustin stood, Sean raised his hands defensively. âOh. No, sir! Iâve just...umâ¦â
Dustin laughed. âItâs ok, Sean. Iâm nowhere near like your master. And the things Iâm into...arenât for everybody.â He gave a sly wink as if he had so innocently thought Sean had been into being abused and tortured. âBesides, Iâm sure Mason has missed his âBoâ too.â
Seanâs jaw clenched. âIâm sure he has, too.â Sean by no means truly missed Mason. He hated Mason only marginally less than he hated Dustin.
âJust be careful,â Dustin said, placing a hand on Seanâs shoulder. âI would hate for you to be another numbered grave marker in his little cemetery, yeah?â
Sean nodded. âYeah, Iâll keep that in mind.â
âWhatâs it been like? Turning into his personal sex toy?â Dustin asked as if it were a point of genuine interest, though not concern.
Looking to the window, half-expecting Masonâs truck to appear on the path up the hill, Sean said, âIt sucks. I hate it here. I want to go back to my old life.
